Happy Birthday George Washington!

Yesterday, Lyna and I learned about George Washington since it was his birthday. We read some books about him, looked at some portraits of him, studied the one dollar bill and the quarter, and then worked on some projects. We made a log cabin and also a hand print cherry tree. Here are some photos.

Moon Watching!

Well, thanks to my fabulous friend Sam (who I stole all of these ideas from!), we had a fun time last night watching for the lunar eclipse. First, I sat down with Lyna earlier in the day and talked about eclipses and why they happen and what causes them. Then, we had "moon" pizza for dinner...



And then some hot chocolate while we sat outside and watched for the eclipse...




Unfortunately, this is about all we saw...


Yep, just pretty much a lot of black. It was VERY cloudy out last night, so not the best night for moon watching, but we had fun anyway!

New Sippy Cup!

Well, I have wanted to start Noah on a sippy cup for a couple of months now. He has been showing major interest in Lyna's cups, so I figured it was time. But, the cups we normally use and LOVE (Klean Kanteens) just do not work well for a small baby. The spout on them is really hard and just really hard to learn how to suck out of. So, I had been looking for another BPA-free alternative and I found these, made by Born Free. I ordered one and we got it today and oh I love it!! Noah is drinking out of it so well! This same company makes BPA-free bottles and sippy cups for older children.

Noah's Haircut!

Michael has been working on me for a few months now to cut Noah's hair. It was getting pretty shaggy in the back, so we trimmed it up a bit back in January, but it grew back even shaggier. So, since my husband had taken to calling him moppy, I decided to go ahead and let him cut it. I was so nervous!!

And I truly love it! He looks like such a little boy now!! But, Michael did a fabulous job and I won't hesitate to trust in with haircuts in the future (well, at least for the boys)!

Trip to Oklahoma...

This weekend we went up to Oklahoma to house sit/babysit/teenager sit/visit! We had a lot of fun and were glad to get to see the kids. Here are some photos from the trip!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had a lovely Valentine's Day today. Luckily, I had mostly recovered from a yucky cold I have had since Saturday, so that in and of itself made my day, but we had lots of Valentine's fun as well.

Our Valentine's actually kind of started a day early when my mother and stepfather surprised us with these beautiful bears and balloons for the kids and some gorgeous roses for me! They sent them a day early since we will be leaving tomorrow to go up to Oklahoma and they wanted us to be able to enjoy them longer. The kids loved their balloons!!







Then, today I surprised Michael with a "Shower of Love" in our front door. Each heart had something I love about him written on it. It was a very fun gift.
But, because I have the most amazing husband ever, he totally outdid me and gave me a wonderful card that had this address in it http://ilovekensie.blogspot.com . You can see for yourself how adorable and wonderful he is!

After that Alyna pulled Noah around on my table runner for a while, not so Valentine's-ie, but fu nevertheless.

And I got some cute photos of Noah playing outside!
And then I made an all red and pink dinner. We had chicken enchiladas with red pepper hearts, watermelon, and then Lyna made a jello and marshmellow cake for desert.
So all in all, we had a wonderful Valentine's Day. We hope all of you did too!

Playing at the Park...

We are so lucky to have some amazing parks here in our new town. Two in particular are just fabulous and they are connected by a linear bike/walking trail. We got an opportunity the other day to enjoy the great weather and go play at one of these parks. We had a lot of fun!
