An Update

Well, all seems to be returning to normal. The kids both seem fine now, Michael is doing much better, and I have yet to catch this mysterious bug. Hopefully, it stays that way, as I have Relief Society function tomorrow night that I really don't want to miss. I made cookies tonight and now we are just hanging out.

And more sickness...

So, Michael came home after class today feeling horrible, he has been laid up all day long. I knew it was going to hit Lyna, just didn't know when, but about 30 minutes ago she threw up for the first time. Poor girl. Noah is mostly okay now, still really sleepy. I am doing okay so far, but I have a feeling it will hit me next, but who knows, maybe my mommy super powers will keep me healthy. I talked to some friends and a lot of people in the area have had this particular bug and they said it usually lasts 12-24 hours (which is about what it lasted for Noah), so hopefully this will pass fairly quickly and get out of our home!!!

Sick kid, lack of sleep....

Well, Noah started throwing up about 11PM last night and didn't stop all night long. I am still not sure what the problem is. I have narrowed it down to a few things, but I really don't know. He didn't have a fever, just continuous vomiting (all over the bed too, yuck!). And even when he wasn't vomiting, I couldn't bring myself to fall asleep because I was terrified he would vomit and aspirate it. This is definitely one of those times I am thankful that he sleeps in our bed! He seems to be better today, he is really mellow, I am sure he is tired since he got hardly any sleep as well. We have been taking it pretty easy today.

Food Storage...

Well, I decided this week that I really should work on getting some type of food storage built up (if a disaster happened right now, we would be in big trouble!). So, I searched around and found the $5/week food storage plan here. I am upping it to $10/week and I am sure some weeks I will have to go over because of our different dietary needs (ex. having to sub canned chicken for canned tuna), but all in all I think it is a good plan and it will at least get us some basics.
Tuesday is my grocery day, so I went today to get my 12 lbs. of salt. The salt canisters are over 1 lb. each (something like 1 lb. 9 oz.) and I didn't feel like being that specific (especially since they were $.34 each, so I just grabbed 10 canisters. I got some of the weirdest looks! One lady stopped by me and said "Must be for a school project!" to which I said, as seriously as I possibly could, "Nope, just stocking up!"....she definitely thought I was crazy!

I love my puppy...

Bodhi was outside tonight and Noah really wanted to let him in. Here are some cute pictures I took of them (please ignore the dirty window!)...

9/24 Family Home Evening

I decided I was going to start putting our FHEs on here so that (a) I can keep track of them and (b) maybe I will be better about being prepared for them (I am so bad about this!). So, tonight we did the Daniel's Faith lesson at www.sugardoodle.net (my favorite LDS website). We learned about Daniel and the Lion's Den, sang "Do As I'm Doing" (no, it doesn't really go with the lesson, but that's what Lyna picked!), played a "Daniel" game that I also found on Sugardoodle, and ate Lion cookies (well, they kind of looked like lions, I tried really hard!)

Prepare for a post of epic proportions...

So, we had Alyna's first cheer competition on Saturday. It was at the State Fair of Oklahoma. Michael and I were both pretty nervous about whether Alyna would actually do her routine, especially after running off the stage in rehearsal two days previous. My bet was that she wouldn't go on stage at all and Michael's was that she would go on stage, but only to stand there and stare, no routine. Well, she surprised us all and did a fantastic job (especially since she only learned this routine 4 weeks ago and has only been to 4 cheer practices with her team). We were both so proud of her!!! And she loved doing it! So, here are some pictures of the day and a video of her routine at the end...

At the gym early to get ready...Getting her cheeks done...Getting her eyes done...Getting her lips done...A cute shot of her pigtails (this was NOT easy to do)...The whole package...

About to get on the bus (she thought this was the coolest part)...At the State Fair with her coach and team...
Stretching...
Getting ready to go on stage...

And with her trophy afterwards...
And now, for what you all have been waiting for (are you sick of this post yet?? lol), Alyna starring in, well, her cheer routine (she is the tiny one in the back center, she is about a foot smaller then everyone else, so she should be pretty easy to find)...

Alyna's Determination...

I meant to post this earlier in the week, but forgot until today. On Monday, Alyna had her gymnastics class. She is the smallest in her class, in fact she is the smallest 3 year old I have ever seen. She is learning to deal with her size limitations and as of late, has been working very hard to be able to do things herself (i.e. walking all the way across the house and dragging something back to the sink so she can wash her hands by herself instead of having you pick her up). Anyhow, while at gymnastics, they started doing bars. They had the bar set kind of high (low enough for all of the other children to reach, but not for Alyna). When her teacher went to pick her up, she stopped her and told her she could do it by herself. She jumped once, missed, and fell. She jumped twice, missed, and fell. It looked like a hopeless cause. She then tried once more, caught the bar with her two tiny little fingers on her right arm and monkeyed her way up until she was comfortably two-handing the bar and ready to do her skills. I (Kensie) did not personally witness this feat as I was tending to a certain fussy little boy, but Michael recounted it to me and I was very impressed with her determination to succeed. I thought I should write it down somewhere (maybe I could use it as a motivational story for her someday?!?).

Open Gym

Lyna got to go to an open gym tonight at her gymnastics gym. She had a lot of fun and since there were only 3 kids in her age group there, she got a lot of individualized attention.

Michael has a pair of gravity boots to stretch himself (they have really helped his back pain). Anyway, the kids really think it is fun to swing with dad, thought I would post some cute pictures...

More Pictures of Outdoor Play and the Library...

First, here are some more pictures of us playing out in the yard yesterday. I still can't believe how beautiful it was. It was nice today as well, we were able to go to the park, but not as nice as yesterday....

We were able to go play at the library today before heading to the park and I took this picture of Noah and thought it was cute...

A Beautiful Day In Our Neighborhood...

Well, we have had one of the most beautiful days ever today. The weather suddenly went from very hot, then to rainy, and then, today, to beautiful mid-70s sunny weather! We spent a lot of time outside today including having a picnic with Michael during his lunch break from classes. Noah has been having a lot of firsts lately. He has recently acquired two more teeth (now 4 in total) and he learned to clap yesterday and has been clapping all day long both yesterday and today, he thinks its a wonderful thing (and so do we!). Also, during said picnic he decided to surprise us all and go from a sitting position to standing and stood for a few seconds until dropping back onto his bum. I thought for sure it was an isolated incident, but he proved me wrong when he did it multiple more times when we came back and were playing in the front yard. Also, Lyna, who really loves riding her bike decided to pull some dare devil one handed riding! Maybe she will be an extreme spots girl! Here are some pics of us playing and of Noah clapping and standing!
