Martin Nature Park

We have had the BEST winter this year. Our temperatures have hovered right in the 60 degree range and sometimes up to 70 most of the winter. We still have another month to go and I hope it continues this pattern because it has been lovely. We have been able to be outside most days which has been great for the kids and for my sanity! Recently, we went to the new Whole Foods in OKC to get some delicious food and then headed to Martin Nature Park for a picnic. This used to be one of our favorite places to go when we lived in Oklahoma before, but we haven't been there much this time around. We were excited to see them building a really cool play structure, so we are going to have to visit again soon!

Great Wolf Lodge

For New Year's this year, we headed down to Great Wolf Lodge in Texas. We had so much fun swimming and becoming master magis! It was a great trip and we will definitely be going back!

Trans Siberian Orchestra

In December, we were able to go to the Trans Siberian Show in Oklahoma City. It was really neat (and really loud). We ended up leaving a little early because our children were all falling asleep and we weren't sure how we were going to carry them all out if anymore of them dropped. We were kind of sad since we later heard the best part was the end, but it was a great night!

Thanksgiving 2011

So, what to say about Thanksgiving 2011...it was umm, well, interesting?!? We went up for our annual Thanksgiving with Michael's Grandma Marian in Rolla, Missouri as usual. Several other families came in for the festivities as well. The first day was fun and then after that, it kind of went downhill. One by one, people started dropping like flies with the stomach flu. One of the worst illnesses I have ever had to be exact. I didn't get until the day after Thanksgiving and that is where my pictures of the vacation end, since I was not around much after that. Anyway, it was great to see family, but definitely not one of our most exciting Thanksgivings ever. I will spare you the details, but yes every single person in our 6 person family got sick, lucky us!!

In November, we celebrated another birthday of mine. Michael ordered me this awesome cake that was so yummy!! We also celebrated 9 years of marriage a couple of days after this, man we are getting old!! I am so thankful for our marriage and for my time on this earth, I truly feel I have a blessed life!

Halloween 2011

This year for Halloween, I was so excited to be able to convince the kids to do one more family costume. I think the days of our cute family costumes may be officially gone for a while. With so many boys that only want to be superheros and a girl who only wants to be princesses, it is getting really hard to come up with any ideas for family costumes. But, since all of the kids are Angry Birds fans, this was pretty easy. I made all of these costumes and they were pretty easy. We had a couple of nights of Halloween, with the ward party and then trick or treating. We had a ton of fun!

Alyna's First Ice Cream Cone

Alyna has eaten plenty of sorbet in her life, but in October she had her very first ice cream cone. She did fine with no reaction, but we are still being cautious with what she eats for the time being. She loved the ice cream though! She ordered birthday cake flavor.

New Car!

Back in October, after our long trip to Utah, Michael decided to surprise me with a new car!! This is my first new car ever! I am so excited about my van, it is really awesome. It has a ton of great features, but my two favorite are the push button doors and the bluetooth system, so I can talk on my phone hands free and listen to my music. And after almost 3 months, I am still in love with it!

In October we were able to go on a trip to Utah to go to General Conference and visit family. Kathryn and Craig both flew in, so we were able to spend time with both families. General Conference was awesome as usual and the talk that I enjoyed the most from conference was given at the session we attended (here is it if you would like to read it http://www.lds.org/general-conference/2011/10/love-her-mother?lang=eng)We had a great time and I know I took pictures of the trip, but for some reason they are all missing!! So, if I find them, I will update this post with more photos, but for now here are a couple I had on my phone.

Farm Animal Fun!

My sister is way into showing animals and has all kinds of farm animals she takes care of. Her most recent animals to acquire are a ton of chickens (like 50 of them!) and bunnies as well (the bunnies help the chicken exercise I guess?). So, we went out and saw them the other night. They were all so cute!

First Day of School!

We are had our first day here at our homeschool on Monday, it went great! I now have 2 in school, crazy! I cannot believe how fast they are growing up. There is some debate in our house as to what grade Noah is in this year. Age wise he is just short of being old enough for Kindergarten, but he did a lot of school last year and we felt he was ready for Kindergarten curriculum this year, so he will be doing that, but we are calling him pre-K. Confusing!

Alyna is starting 2nd grade this year!

I have a feeling it is going to be a great year!!!

Saturday Night Bowling

The kids have been playing bowling on the wii a lot and have been asking a ton to go do real bowling, so Saturday evening we headed out the local bowling alley. One thing I love about Oklahoma is the anti-smoking laws, which made it possible to even go, considering usually bowling alleys are filled with smoke and I can't stand it. It had been a while since Michael or I had bowled. Michael used to bowl on leagues and stuff, so he usually kills me, but this time he was off his game and I almost won! Alyna picked it up pretty fast and did really well. The boys didn't really get how to bowl the ball correctly, but they had one anyway. Here are some photos of the evening...

Oh my, does time fly or what? I could swear it was yesterday that I was bringing this tiny little 4 lb. cutie back to our tiny little apartment. Alyna, you are such a joy to our lives. You are energetic and always ready to have fun. You are responsible and wise beyond your years. You are the best big sister I know, always willing to take care of a little one when they need it. You have a special bond with all of your brothers and they love you so much. You are the sweetest Spirit, always around the corner with a hug and a smile for someone who needs it. I cannot believe that next year you will be baptized, not sure that I am ready for that, but I know you are! You have a wonderful testimony of the Savior that you are always willing to share. Thank you for coming to our family, we love you more then words can express!

Alyna's 7th Birthday Party

We did Alyna's party a couple of days early this year. She wanted and "arts and crafts" themed party and it turned out so fun. We ended up with a perfect amount of girls there. Alyna had a ball! It took me days to clean up, but it was so worth it!

Yukon Touch a Truck

At the end of July (yeah I am a little behind), we attended the Yukon Touch a Truck. Despite the incredible heat we have had this summer, that day turned out to be beautiful. We enjoyed walking around and enjoying the weather.

Ward Pioneer Breakfast

Saturday, we got up early and headed to our fun ward pioneer activity. We had an early breakfast, followed by a very sweet performance from the primary, and then tons of activities! They had butter making, ice cream making, rag doll making, stilts, sticks, stick pulls, 3 legged races, horse"power" trailer rides, and much more. We had such a good time!

ABC Stay 'n' Play

The other day, the kids and I were trying to come up with something fun to do and beat the awful heat we have been having, and we decided we would try out this little play place that opened up in Yukon last year. I was so sad when we got there because I couldn't believe it had been there that long and we had never gone, it was so fun!!! The kids had a blast, it was reasonably priced, and best of all...the workers picked up the toys! Woo hoo!!!!

Youth Conference 2011

This year our ward was involved in a huge 5 stake youth conference. Since I am in Young Women's, I got to sew some costumes and be somewhat involved in the whole thing. Finally, the day came for the performance that our youth have been working on for months. I was really excited to watch "my" kids perform. It was so fun and the show was excellent!!!! They did such a good job!

The performance was at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, just about a block away from out old student apartment. it was so fun driving around showing the kids our old spots. We had a little daylight left, so we took the kids down the road to the park we spent many of hours at when Michael was in law school.

4th of July 2011

Being in Missouri for 4th of July this year was great. We were sad to miss the awesome fireworks Yukon puts on, but we had a fun time at the little small town Missouri carnival. Here are some photos of our day.

After the carnival, we headed over to a really nice park for a little while.

Unfortunately, Lucas wanted absolutely NOTHING to do with the fireworks, so I only got one photo of Michael doing fireworks, sad! Maybe we will do better next year!

Starvy Creek Bluegrass Festival

This year for the 4th of July weekend we headed up to Missouri to visit with Grandma Marian and Grandma Kathryn, who was visiting from Ohio. One thing we were able to do was attend the Starvy Creek Bluegrass Festival. Kathryn and Marian go every year and it is so neat. It is out in the middle of nowhere and they have some awesome bands that play. Unfortunately, it was so incredibly hot outside!!! We were sweltering out there, so we were only able to stay for a little while. But, we were glad to get to spend time with family and enjoy some wonderful music. We are hoping to go back another time when it is not so hot!

I cannot believe how fast that went by! He is doing so well. He is a chubby little thing and one of the happiest little babies I have ever seen. He smiles constantly and rarely complains. The other kids love him so much and do really well with him. Even Lucas, who at first was a little timid of him, has warmed up to him a lot and loves to play with him. Here are his 3 month photos!

The day after we got home from our vacation, the kids went to sports camp at a local church here in town. Noah did the camp for 4 and 5 year olds and Alyna did cheerleading camp. Noah had a couple of hard days, he doesn't always like to go places without mom, but in the end I think he had a great time. The last day they each gave a little performance. Sprinkler Time

A while back, Alyna had saved up $13 dollars and wanted to go the store to buy something with her hard earned money. I was so proud of her when she decided to buy something her brothers could enjoy as well. So, we came home with this awesome sprinkler. We got it out the other day and boy did they have fun!

Our last day there we were able to get some photos of all the grandchildren together, it was amazing! I couldn't believe we actually got them all to cooperate at the same time.

After that, we headed down to a fun little lake they have there for some swimming. It was a great way to spend the last (really hot!) day!

This was such a busy day, we had a blast. First, we headed to the zoo! The kids were so excited to see the polar bears!

After the zoo, our niece Juliet had a little dance recital to get to. We had fun getting to watch her and she did a great job!

The recital was at a beautiful little park, so we stayed afterward and played for a while and had a nice picnic dinner.

I had been wanting to go see the park of roses while we were in Ohio, it was in perfect bloom season, so after dinner we headed over since it was close by. isn't it gorgeous?!?

On Day 5, Craig and Maddie had to head home. We were sad to see them go and say goodbyes, we had so much fun! We headed out early to the ward Memorial Day breakfast. It was so yummy and fun to see old friends!

Ohio Trip Day 4

Day was Sunday, the big day for the blessings! Amazingly, we got everyone to Church on time, and then had two absolutely beautiful baby blessings!

Afterward, we had a wonderful dinner of grilled steaks and spent lots of time enjoying each other's company. I love these photos of Grandpa Craig playing with my rowdy boys!

On a side note, during this trip, it came to light that Grandpa Craig was vary naughty as a little boy and many of his antics sound very similar to some that a certain 2 year old has come up with. So now we know where he got his ornery streak! So, now I guess I can blame Grandpa Craig for both the extensive dental work some of my children are going to need and also for any pain and suffering caused by Lucas, thanks Craig!!! :-)

Ohio Trip Day 3

We tried to pack as much fun stuff in as possible on Day 3. Michael's Dad, Craig, and young Sister, Maddie, had come in from Georgia for the blessings and we wanted to spend as much time having fun with them as we could before they had to leave on Monday. Michael had a great idea before we left to take the kids' bikes up with us and I am so glad we did. They spent so much time riding bikes in Grandma Kathryn's awesome culdesac!

When Maddie and Craig arrived, we enjoyed some time at the house playing and jumping on the trampoline.

Then, we decided to head over to a local waterfall, Hayden Falls. We knew that Ohio has been getting a ton of rain so we weren't sure how it would be. It was so crazy, usually the waterfall is about half the size it was. It was fun to see, but we didn't stay long since there was no way to escape the spray and it was pretty cold water!! You can usually swim and play in the stream, but it was more like a river this time!

After Hayden Falls, we decided to head to a local trampoline place. We have been to one before in Utah and I didn't like this one as much. The one in Utah had a dedicated children's area whereas this one, the kids were not to go past a certain spot. Well, you try telling an crazy little 2 year old not to go over a line to the other side, yeah right. But, he did pretty well once we got the rule established. Michael and Maddie were so tired afterward, trampolining for 30 minutes is definitely a workout!

Trip to Ohio 2011

We were so excited to get to do a big trip to Ohio recently. It was so fun to spend time with family out there. The main purpose for the trip was so that we could be there for my sweet niece, Vivien's, blessing and also bless Joshua at the same time, so everyone could be there! It was so fun having a double blessing for them. I took SO many photos on our trip (I think I have about 1800 photos on my cards when we came home!). So, I am going to break the trip down into days. The first 2 days and the last 2 days pretty much looked the same, lots of driving! We were able to stop in Rolla both ways and enjoy a visit with Michael's Grandma Marian. It was so nice to see her. Overall, the drive went really well. The kids were very cooperative and spent a lot of time watching movies, thank goodness for car dvd players!

Dandelions

Today on the way home from Church, I saw these massive dandelions on the side of the road. I knew the kids would think they were awesome, so I stopped and grabbed some. Unfortunately, only one survived the walk back to the car in the Oklahoma wind. But, as I predicted, the kids thought it was so cool! They were great to share and there was definitely enough dandelion (and wishes) to go around!

We are leaving in a couple of days to go to Ohio to bless little Joshua with his cousin Vivien, so I wanted to take some portraits in his blessing outfit before we headed out for the busy vacation. He is such an easy going baby, it makes taking photos of him so easy! I loved how these turned out and I am so sad that I don't have portraits like these for my other babies, I should have taken up photography earlier!!

We had a great time celebrating Michael's birthday this last week. The kids and I worked hard all day Monday doing some surprise decorations and sidewalk art for when he came home...

Then we headed to Joe's Crab Shack for dinner. It was so fun! I LOVE that they have an enclosed play area right off the back deck, sure beats trying to entertain them with 3 crayons for hours! They also had an area to feed the fish and our food was delicious!

After that, we came back to eat cake at the house. Michael requested an angel food cake, which was delicious, but not so fun to decorate! But, it tasted awesome and we had a fun evening together with our little family!

Alyna finally learned how to ride without training wheels yesterday! It was so awesome and she learned really quick. Both Michael and I thought she could do it, but she has been too nervous to try. Make Do or Do Without

We have been doing lots of bike riding lately and everyone was outgrowing bikes, so it was time to move up. Alyna became the proud owner of this beauty...

(but, without the training wheels!!! More on that later). Lucas has been loving riding this instead of his tricycle...

And Noah inherited this awesome bike...

Yeah, not really his style, I know. He was not happy about riding a girls Dora bike!! But, Michael had an idea. The bike was still in great condition and fits him perfect. So, we did a little of this...

Ears Pierced

Alyna and I were talking the other day about earrings. She expressed concern that she wanted her ears pierced, but was scared it would hurt to put them in. And no she wasn't talking about when you first get them pierced, she thought that it would hurt every time she ever changed her earrings for the rest of her life! After I explained that was not the case, she was ready to go right then! Michael left work for a bit and took her to get them done. She did awesome and didn't even move! And she has been so responsible with them, she is loving her "Hello Kitty" earrings!

Noah the Mathematician!

Michael has this huge calculator that his mom gave him once and this weekend Noah found it. Noah LOVES math and is constantly asking what blank plus blank is. He loves to figure out different problems. So, imagine how excited he was when he found a toy that would do math!!! He has carried it around all weekend! I hope he continues his love of math forever!

After Alyna's violin recital that was in Norman, we thought about hanging out down there for a bit at one of their many awesome parks, but it ended up being SO HOT that day. So, we decided to go back and swim for the day! Lyna had an awesome day of swimming. She learned how to swim across the pool, learned how to swim backwards, and did a BACK FLIP off the diving board!!! (This is the girl that would not even go under a few months ago!). Yukon Children's Festival 2011

This weekend Michael's mother Kathryn was able to come down for a short weekend visit, we were so excited to have her. Saturday we went the the local Children's Festival. If you live in the OKC (or even just in the Oklahoma area) area and haven't ever been, mark your calendar NOW for next year. It is such an awesome event. We only got to stay for a couple of hours this year because of other obligations and we were so sad to leave. There was still SO MUCH to do!!! Yukon does such a good job with this event!

To The Zoo!

Friday we went to the zoo to see the new elephant habitat and BABY ELEPHANT!!! She is so cute. She is only a couple of weeks old and so tiny (for an elephant)! It was so neat to see her. It turned out to be a great day to be out and about at the zoo, we had a great time!

We love Cold Stone! Of course their ice cream is delicious, but we love it even more because they carry dairy free ice cream, one of the few places that do, and Lyna is always so excited to get to have her ice cream there! We go there often for family home evenings and special events.

Park Days

We have been spending so much time at the parks recently, we are loving getting to enjoy the weather!

Lucas is getting so big and is very much in a "anything you can do, I can do better" phase. He follows his brother and sister anywhere and everywhere and will do or try anything they do, which is sometimes a little scary!

I love this picture and Lyna and Lucas. In our family, I often assign Lyna to be Luke's "buddy" and help him out. She is so willing to help him and is always loving and caring towards him. They really have a special bond. Noah has already decided Joshua will be his "buddy" and is excited to help in anyway he can, I love it!

What School Looks Like For Us!

A lot of people ask us what school usually looks like for us as a homeschooling family. They always want to know when, where, how, etc. Well, the other day I snapped some photos of one of our most popular spots to have school, the back porch! One beautiful days like we had this week, we like to take everything outside and enjoy the weather. Lucas is usually really content to play outside and it gives me some great time to spend with the older kids. I love the flexibility. We have also have been know to have school on Mommy's bed, the dining room (helpful when I need to clean or do dishes in between lessons), and of course in our school room.

Until recently Joshua has mostly just been wearing his cute little sleepers around, but with the weather turning we have been able to pull out all of the cute outfits from Noah and Lucas and also all of the new things people have given and gifted to us. Our kids love to play a game on the trampoline where everyone shows off their "cool moves". It is so funny to watch them try to come up with new stuff. The other day, Michael and I joined in. Joshua turned a month old the other day, I cannot believe how fast time flies. We estimate he weighs about 11 lbs. now, though he doesn't go in for another official weigh in until 2 months. At 2 weeks he was weighing in at 9 lbs. 7 oz., big boy! He is healthy and happy and doing wonderful. He is such a good baby, just happy to be here. He has been by far the best sleeper of our children. Starting at birth, he has gone down at night between 8:30 and 9 and sleeps until 5, wakes up to nurse and goes back to sleep. Such a blessing! He loves watching everyone around him and loves being held by his sister. He is starting to smile a lot now and is so interactive. He is also the first of our boys to be a daddy's boy even though they are nursing. Usually our boys our mommy's boys until they wean and then they are quickly won over by dad, but this one seems to already love daddy so much! Here are some photos of our Joshua at 1 month...

Easter Sunday we went over to Grandma and Papa's house after Church. We had a great Easter dinner and hunted eggs. We were also able to celebrate cousin Kobe's birthday. I wish the weather would have cooperated a little better, but we really needed the rain around here, so I guess it was a good thing.

On Saturday, I decided we needed to dye some eggs. We were so unprepared due to the sickness that had been around the previous week, so I pulled out the food coloring, vinegar, eggs, and crayons and we went to work! They weren't the most fancy eggs ever, but we ended having a great time and the kids were so creative. Of course, Noah requested Michael helping him so that he could have superhero eggs!

On Good Friday, our ward had an Easter Egg Hunt and Dinner. We were recovering from sickness at our house, but were glad to get to go. We had a great time and the kids loved getting to hunt the eggs!

Alyna Loses a Tooth!

Alyna lost her first tooth on April 14th. I can't believe my baby is old enough to be losing her baby teeth. She has been waiting impatiently to start this process since all of her friends around her have been losing teeth for a while now. She pulled it out herself and was excited to get a dollar from the tooth fairy. She now has a wiggly one right next to one she lost, so I think she will be even more toothless soon!

Joshua's First Day of Church!

Today was our first day back to Church with the new addition. It was also my first day getting all 4 kids ready for Church by myself! Since Michael has to be at meetings before I even have to wake up, I have the responsibilities of getting kids fed, dressed, and out the door on time. I was a little nervous about how it would go with a little (nursing) baby, but it went awesome. I cannot even begin to tell you how much getting things ready on Saturday helps. When we skip that vital step, Sunday mornings are so chaotic. But, last night I made sure everything was ironed, laid out, etc. etc. and this morning was wonderful. We had time to make muffins for breakfast, get dinner in the crockpot, get dressed (without rush), take some photos, and we still had 10 minutes to spare! My kids were so helpful and even Lucas was easy and cheerful (although not so much in Sacrament Meeting, haha you can't win them all). Joshua was well received at Church with plenty of oohs and ahhs and overall it went great!

We have been spending a lot of time at the local parks recently, taking advantage of the nice weather before the heat comes. The other day, Lyna had a birthday party to attend, so I got to have some park time with just the boys. We had a great time! And Lyna had a blast at the birthday party as well.

Every year we try and do a picnic sometime between sessions of General Conference at the Temple. This year my sweet husband packed an awesome lunch for us and we headed out in some beautiful sunny weather for our picnic! We had such a nice time enjoying the beauty of the Temple. I am so thankful to live so close to the Temple, so that we can do things like this!

We had another soccer game this weekend. We missed the 3rd game due to our new arrival, but since it was so cold that day we were okay with that! This week we had great weather and the kids did awesome!

We have had some great weather lately and Grandma and Papa's new pool got finished right about the same time. So, we have been swimming quite a bit. The kids are loving the new pool!! Up until about 2 months ago Alyna would be hysterically crying if you even got water near her eyes. She kept being worried that she would not be able to be baptized in a couple of years because of her fear of going under water. But, about a month ago she started going farther and farther in the bathtub and finally went under all the way. Once the new pool was done, she almost immediately started jumping off the sides and then the diving board! She has also been down the slide. I cannot believe how far she has come!

Happy Birthday to my sweet Lucas!!! I cannot believe 2 years has gone by SO fast. You have definitely been our most challenging little one, always full of energy and ideas for fun (read: messes). This year has been filled with quarts of lemonade across my floor, play dough in my living room, lbs. of flour spread through the house, butter on cabinets, and my personal favorite, an entire room finger painted blue. But, despite your awnry streak, your smile lights up a room and our hearts. It is contagious! You are trying hard to be just like your siblings, superheroes and all. You started in nursery at Church this year also and are finally, as of recently, going by yourself. You are so fun and you keep us on our toes! You give us joy beyond belief and you are truly a blessing from Heaven. We love you!

Alyna and Noah had their first spring soccer game this Saturday. Alyna was super excited to start a new season and it was Noah's first game ever! It was also Michael's first time to coach a game. Earlier this year we got a call asking us to coach Noah's team and since this is the only year they will be in the same division, we added Alyna to the Titans as well. Noah was a little nervous the night before, but he ended up doing so good! The weather was one of the coldest days we had had in a while, so for our noon game it had only warmed up to 46 degrees and there was a 20 mph north wind, it was SO cold! Despite the cold, all of the kids played great! Hopefully next weekend we will have some warmer weather!

Not Much to Blog About...

I feel as if I am neglecting this blog, but in all honesty we just don't have much to post about right now. We have been super busy getting everything organized and ready for a new little addition who is due to arrive very soon. We have also had some pretty spectacular weather which we have been enjoying. And to top it all off, everyone came down with colds recently. Eventful, but not really photo worthy. So, instead of my normal posts with tons of photos, this one will be photo free, but I figured I would update on what is going on. Michael has spent his recent times putting up a new trampoline. We were really wanting a trampoline with a net on it, too many wrestling boys (and girl) around here to go much longer without it, and we found one at Sam's Club for pretty reasonable. I think it was supposed to be a 2 or 3 man job, but he did it by himself and it looks awesome. The kids have really enjoyed it and it makes me feel a lot safer. Of course, the first time they really got to jump on it, Alyna hurt her knee...go figure! But, it was not a bad injury and she is doing fine now. Michael (and I) have also been busy with coaching our soccer team. Michael decided (or got roped) into coaching Noah and Alyna's soccer team this year. I never realized how much work it all is...ordering jerseys, scheduling practices, waiting around for other things to be scheduled. It is a little crazy! But, I think once all of the organizational stuff is out of the way, it should be really fun! I have been staying really busy trying to get some last minute organizational/cleaning things done at the house. I have a few more things I am hoping to accomplish before little one comes. I also decided to go canning for the first time this Saturday. It was really fun! We got a bit of food storage done and I was glad to get to go learn how to do it for future use. The kids are all doing great. Alyna is anxiously awaiting the new baby to come and of course is excited about this season's soccer games. Noah is thrilled about soccer since it is his first year to get to play. We had a bit of a time finding shin guards and shoes for him because he is so tiny. We ended up going to a soccer specialty store to find them and his shin guards are still too long for his tiny legs, but they will do and they look pretty adorable as well. Lucas is doing his usual, getting into things of course! Yesterday, he decided to paint the craft room blue, literally. Took some cleaning up, but luckily I have learned my lesson about keeping non-washable things (i.e. sharpies) in our house, so it wasn't too bad. We are all still recovering from this little cold that hit us this weekend, but it seems everyone is at least on the road to recovery. I am hoping to maybe get out and do some fun things in the next week or so, but until then, this post will have to do.

Cupid's Revenge Crossfit Competition

Michael competed in a Crossfit competition on Saturday at Crossfit OKC. They had a Valentine's "couples" competition, teams had to consist of one male and one female. Because of my rather large condition, I could not compete and I was so sad, it looked like so much fun! But, one of the sweet ladies from our gym, Mary, teamed up with Michael for the competition. The first workout of the day consisted of finding your max lift on the "clean" (basically bringing the weight from floor to shoulder) in 8 minutes and the doing as many pullups as possible without coming off the bar. Michael cleaned 235 lb., short of his goal and previous max lift, but he ended up doing 38 pullups, more then he thought he would get, so overall he was happy with the performance. The second workout of the day was a 20 minute workout trying to get as many rounds as possible in that time. One round consisted of a 250 meter row, 15 18 inch box jumps, and 15 sit ups. The couples went one after another to get the most rounds. Michael and Mary again did great get 9+ rounds. The third and final workout was a timed workout, which consisted of trying to finish as a team 50 ground to overhead lifts (95 lb. for men and 53 lb. for women), 50 russian kettlebell swings (1.5 pood for men, 1 pood for women), 50 burpess, 50 squats, 50 pushups, and 100 jump ropes. They were allowed to partition the work anyway as long as they finished everything in order. Michael and Mary finished in 9:12 and ended up getting 12th in competition. Especially awesome since Mary has not been doing Crossfit for very long at all, but she is obviously in great shape! Our good friends and the owners of the gym we go to, Chris and Erica, ended up in 2nd place and we had several other couples from Crossfit 66 who represented so great! Snow Days

Well, now that the horrid weather has officially ended (for the time being, but hopefully for the season) and I am sitting happily in a 60 degree beautiful day, I can blog about this event without going totally insane. A few days after we got hit with one of the nastiest snowstorms I have ever seen, the north decided to send us another massive snowstorm and more frigid temperatures. Here is a photo out our front door at the beginning of this storm, yuck.

One thing I do love about snowstorms is the opportunity to spend days just sitting around in PJs. My kids enjoyed so much jammie time! No need to get anyone dressed when not even the postman can make it to your house. Here are some phiotos of my cute kiddos in their snow day clothes.

Luckily, most of the snow was melted yesterday and today, except for the occasional drift, which looks kind of funny placed in the middle of a super nice day with no signs of winter in sight. I think it is very safe to say that we are ready for spring and no more cold!

Daddy Daughter Dance 2011

Michael and Alyna were able to attend Yukon's Daddy/Daughter Dance yesterday evening. As always, they had so much fun! Michael is such a good sport and has a ball dancing and spending time with Alyna. She has been looking forward to it all year. Afterwards, they went on date out to eat and she got to choose where she wanted to go. She chose Subway?!? She loves their pizza subs. Snow Fun

It seems odd to be posting pictures of snow play just days after posting pictures of my kids outside in shorts and t-shirts, but that is totally Oklahoma for you. I have heard a lot of people describe their state's weather as bi-polar, but seriously if you have never lived in Oklahoma you have no idea. 72 to 9 to 54...yeah it's crazy. I always have to have a pair of shorts in my kids drawers, even in the dead of winter, and vice versa. Anyway, a couple days after our beautiful weather, we got one of the biggest blizzards I have ever seen in Oklahoma. It dumped an incredible amount of snow on us, but thankfully no ice! The temperatures were way cold, so we didn't leave the house for a couple of days. The kids kept wanting to play in the snow, but with temperatures in the negatives, there was just no way. Finally, yesterday, it warmed up back into the 50s and melted a ton of the snow, but because we got so much there was still plenty to play in. We went outside and built a snowman and did all the traditional snow playing. The kids had a blast! And don't mind our ghetto "snow boots". We hadn't bothered to buy snow boots this year, lucky for Lyna she had a hand me down pair, but the boys weren't so lucky, but hey their plastic bags over tennis shoes worked great!

Noah's 4th Birthday Party

This year Noah decided he wanted a Batman and a Chuck E. Cheese party...so, we did a Batman at Chuck E. Cheese party. We had some family and friends come and had a great time (thanks for coming guys!). We were lucky that the nasty weather did not arrive until after we left. Noah got all kinds of great gifts and was very sad when we got home too late for him to open them and play with them. Needless to say, after eating pizza, eating cake, opening presents, and then playing tons of games, he was one exhausted birthday boy!

Happy birthday to my sweet little Noah!! I cannot believe how fast time flies when you are having fun. 4 years ago today I was holding one of the most beautiful little blond haired, blue eyed boys I had ever seen. Noah has been such a joy to our lives, constantly bringing laughs and happiness to our home. He is such a sweet spirit. He loves superheroes, but talks constantly about how the only real superheroes are Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. He is such a well behaved little one and in the last year has become much more of a helper as well. He loves to help his little brother do things and can't wait for the new baby to come. I am so happy that we were chosen to be your parents Noah, we love you so very much!

Lyna got roller skates for Christmas (which she loves and is learning really fast on), but today Lucas decided to try them out. It was pretty funny watching him with the huge helmet trying to figure out to work them!
