Our Baby Hammock!!!

So, I have been hearing fabulous things about these baby hammocks that are becoming so popular, specifically the Amby and Happy Hangup. I wanted one so bad, but the price tag is pretty steep! So, after showing Michael what I wanted, we put our skills together (his=building; making something out of nothing, mine=sewing; supervising making something out of nothing) and came up with this!! It only cost us about 30 dollars and it works just like the expensive baby hammocks. It is spring loaded as well, so it undulates as well as swings. It also has a safety cable, just in case, and holds up to like 200 lbs. (hopefully we never have a 200 lb. baby though). Anyway, just thought I would show it off, I love it!

That is so cool. I was just reading about it on the link you gave and it sounds like such a cool idea. I also checked out the retail price, CRAZY! You guys saved so much money making this yourselves. I'm impressed.

I told my sister I was thinking of making a baby hammock. She found your link and sent it to me. I'm now even more excited to make my own since I see others have done it too. My style is similar to that of a contemporary loft so I was planning on making mine a bit more industrial looking. This will also make it easier to create since I’m not big on sowing. Yours looks like great quality. Thanks for the inspiration!

I love your ingenuity and have been trying to find a pattern for a baby hammock. Do you have a rough description of the materials you used by chance?

Thanks!

I am Mexican and live in Yucatán so "hamacas" are a way of life for us. We all slept in one as babies and most adults still use them regularly instead of beds. Your´s is fabulous though!! I´m pretty handy and creative but I´m quite impress with your hamaca. I bet you could make a ton selling them. I for one, will copy it and make one for my soon-to-be here grandson and hang it right next my son´s bed.
Thank you very much for sharing!!!
